SAFEEars!...To Hear The Future

 SAFEEars! promotes the important message that noise-induced hearing loss is preventable. With hearing loss becoming more common in the United States, awareness programs such as SAFEEars!, serve as an important catalyst to educate the public about this important health issue. The program strives to motivate young people and adults to take action against noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) by understanding its problem and its solutions.

Before young people can understand hearing loss, they must understand how noise is a major cause of it. Providing concrete examples and hands-on activities helps them understand that noise-induced hearing loss is real. SAFEEars! Kids are Listening (for children in third through sixth grade) and Listen Up (for sixth, seventh and eighth graders) activities help young people develop an awareness of hearing and hearing loss. Many of the activities also provide opportunities for young people to influence the awareness and understanding of others regarding noise-induced hearing loss.

ACTIVITIES

The Kids Are Listening and Listen Up Activities can be utilized in several types of settings. They are designed for use by teachers, youth club leaders, school-age care staff or volunteers. Club members can also present the activities or volunteer to assist in presenting them. Sertoma partnered with WISE EARS!®* to create SAFEEars! a hearing loss prevention program. 

SAFEEars! was developed to provide a national identity in order to spread our mission and attract new members. Out of this need, with minimal financial outlay and time commitments, SERTOMA SAFEEars!© was developed. This project can help in fundraising and membership recruitment!

HOW TO ORDER

To order the club kit and give-away packets, just click on the order form below. You can return it by either fax (816)333-4320 or mail: Sertoma, 1912 E. Meyer Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64132. All clubs are required to purchase the club kit before ordering give-aways. All new clubs ordering the club packet for the first time will receive 150 free give-away kits.
