Clinic With a Heart – it’s hard to imagine a more fitting name for a nonprofit dedicated to providing free healthcare services to uninsured and underinsured individuals. In recognition of the incredible work they do in the Lincoln, Nebraska, area, the Northeast Lincoln Sertoma Club proudly selected Clinic With a Heart as its Sertoma Club Grant recipient this summer.
“Sertoma’s mission aligns with the work being done at Clinic With a Heart,” Club Treasurer Lee Bring told the Lincoln Journal Star. “We’re proud to support their efforts to provide compassionate care and essential medications to patients who might otherwise go without.”
The club’s donation will specifically help cover insulin and essential medications for the clinic’s clientele. Without this generous support, many patients would have to go without essential care.
Clinic With a Heart was born out of a 2002 medical mission trip to Reynosa, Mexico, led by Dr. Rob Rhodes and members of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. The experience of providing free healthcare there inspired them to bring the same compassionate care to their own community. Today, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit not only addresses patients' immediate healthcare needs but also helps connect them to long-term care. What began with just 19 patients on its first night has grown into a vital resource, providing care through more than 3,600 appointments last year.
“Clinic With a Heart is so grateful for the support and partnership of the Sertoma Club,” Molly Oglesby, director of development, told the newspaper. “This grant will help alleviate some of the costs we bear in providing prescriptions and insulin at no cost to our patients.”
