Announcing the newest chartered Sertoma club— Sertoma Connections of the Great Plains Club

Located in Baxter, Minnesota, the Sertoma Connections of the Great Plains Club is hard at work to grow their 15-member club with new recruits from Iowa, Nebraska, and North Dakota. Their board of directors maintains a membership split of 51% deaf and hard of hearing and 49% hearing individuals. It is crucial to their club that the deaf and hard of hearing communities in their region know their needs and views are of primary importance to their club's purpose. Sertoma Connections of the Great Plains Club is committed to Sertoma, Inc. and Camp UBU and intend to maintain the integrity of the Club and Camp UBU for years to come.

Club Members Jenni Bailey, Cathe Picek, and Lance Sigdestad attended the 2021 Great Plains Regional Convention in Sioux Falls, SD, where Jenni and Lance made Camp UBU presentations, spoke at one of the breakouts sessions, and made many contacts and potential member introductions.

In July of 2021, Sertoma Connections supported Camp UBU, a camp for deaf and hard of hearing campers who have completed 2-9th grades, and serves campers from the Great Plains Region of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa. As a new club and a new camp in 2021, sponsorships, donations, fundraisers, and camper support were needed to make Camp UBU happen.

Sertoma is excited and ready to see the impact that Sertoma Connections of the Great Plains Club brings to their community and the mission of Sertoma.
