#MemberMonday: Sertoma’s Club Grant Program: Stories from Our Clubs

By Brandi McGrath Kong, Director of Member Services & Conferences

The Sertoma Club Grant Program was established last year to help our clubs expand their support of local nonprofit programs and organizations. We were so excited by high participation amongst our clubs and are already looking forward to the opening of applications for this year’s grants in September.

Thanks to clubs’ participation in the program, we can share stories like these:

Port Arthur Sertoma Club used the grant to support the Jefferson County Welfare Board’s Prom Project event. Each year, the Board puts on a free prom for foster children in a five-region area. Everything from attire to hairstyling is provided thanks to volunteer and donor support, all in the name of giving these deserving children a first-class, memorable experience.

Five Flags Sertoma Club presented their $2,000 grant to the Baptist Health Care Foundation’s Speech and Hearing Board. Their donation will help fund hearing aids for individuals in their community who cannot afford them.  Such a cause is near and dear to Sertoma as it fits within our national hearing health mission.

Sertoma has featured many of our club grant recipients on our Facebook page and on the Sertoma website. To share your story – and to ensure that you’ll qualify to apply for the 2022 Club Grant Program – complete this form by October 10.
