#MemberMonday: What Can I Expect at Regional Conventions?

By Brandi McGrath Kong, Director of Member Services & Conferences

Sertoma will host the same educational sessions at all of its Regional Conventions in 2023. This was designed purposefully so that a Sertoman could go to the event that best meets their availability and leave with the same educational experience no matter where they choose to attend.

We are excited to preview the education you can expect next spring:

Growing Your Club with Intention – In a series of three different sessions, we will help explore ways your club can grow with purpose. Topics shall include volunteer engagement, building team trust and identifying individual member strengths.

Our Uniqueness is Our Strength – This interactive presentation will take a look at the many groups that not only make up our membership but also those that we serve. We’ll also look at ways to capitalize on our differences in order to strengthen our mission impact, remain relevant and maybe even grow our membership.

Making Sertoma Programs Relevant to Your Members – Sertoma offers several national hearing health programs, but why should your members care? In this session, groups will learn what those programs are, discuss how they can play a role in your own club’s mission even when it isn’t related to hearing health, and develop practical ways to incorporate Sertoma programs into existing and new club programs/events.

Sertoma, Etc. – Like the ad says, “You’ve got questions and we’ve got answers.” In this short session, we’ll touch very briefly on many of our most frequently asked questions including club insurance, what it means to be In Good Standing, where are things on the website and more!

We’ll also end each regional convention with a wrap-up session to help attendees understand how to put what they’ve learned to use and how to get others excited about it.

Sertoma would like to thank the Sertoma Education Committee for their hard work on developing the content of these courses. The committee includes Chair Gretchen Nielsen, Tim Hazel, Vicki Highstreet and Sheila Reding. Brandi McGrath Kong serves as staff liaison and is available to answer members’ questions at bmcgrathkong@sertoma.org.

Registration and reservations are now open for all 2023 Regional Conventions. Click here to reserve your room, get signed up and learn more.
