Though the heart of Sertoma is focused on community service, each club also has basic business functions that must be cared for so that we may continue to do the work that we love so much. As we look forward to the year ahead, here are three actions your club should take to make sure it is protecting itself from potential issues:
- If your club serves alcohol at public events, make sure your members are properly trained. Learn more here.
- If your club works with youth, conduct criminal background checks on any members, volunteers or paid staff who may interact with minors and vulnerable adults at any events, programs, camps, etc. that may be supported, organized, or sponsored by the club. Learn more here.
- Educate your board on how your club is protected under the Sertoma Club Insurance Program and any other independent insurance policies your club holds. Learn more here.
Don’t forget, your Sertoma HQ staff is here to help! If you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or (816) 333-8300.
