The Uptown Spartanburg Sertoma Club Announces Results from Auction for a Cause Event

SPARTANBURG, SC—The Uptown Sertoma Club of Spartanburg, Inc. announced the results of its annual Auction for A Cause event at their December 9th meeting at the Piedmont Club in Spartanburg. The in-person Kick Off Party and Live Auction was held Thursday, October 27th at Indigo Hall, and provided food, including a Low Country Boil, entertainment and featured 13 Live Auction items.Auction for a Cause Kick Off Party: Guests gather on the patio of Indigo Hall for appetizers

The Silent Auction opened on Friday, October 28th and ran through Friday, November 4th featuring 470 items. Over 2,700 bids were submitted and a total of $70,749.91 was raised from this years event!! This was the 29th year the Club has been serving the community through these non-profit agencies: The Bethlehem Center, The Haven, Project R.E.S.T., Upstate Family Resource Center and Camp Sertoma. And, this year they added two new non-profit agencies: Mary and Martha’s Services and Ruth’s Gleanings.

Each agency provides an invaluable service to the community and Uptown Sertoma is proud to partner with them. Each agency received a check for their portion of the auction items they sold and are looking forward to using these funds to help their mission to serve the community. “I am blessed to be a part of Auction for a Cause,” said Caroline McArthur, AFC Chairman and long-time Sertoma member, What a year! Celebrating 29 years of Auction for a Cause and raising over $1,393,365 dollars in those 29 years to support local agencies in Spartanburg County is truly special.

 The Uptown Spartanburg Sertoma Club was chartered in 1988 with thirty-nine charter members present. Today, the Uptown Sertoma Club of Spartanburg has 70 members and meets at the Piedmont Club the third Friday of every month.
