Mental health is an incredibly important issue impacting the lives of adolescents across the United States. In fact, according to research from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/National Institute of Mental Health, an estimated 49.5% of adolescents has had some type of mental health disorder at some point in their lives.
Recognizing this crisis, the Brownsburg Sertoma Club made a commitment to supporting the Care to Change Counseling Center, which helps provide mental health counseling to local youth in need. The Center is the recipient of the club’s 2023 Sertoma Club Grant.
The club started its relationship with the Center two years ago with a combined donation of around $4,200. Thanks to the grant, Brownsburg Sertomans were able to increase their a annual giving to $6,000 in 2024.
“Our country is experiencing a mental health crisis, and Brownsburg Sertoma has stepped up to make sure our future generations have access to resources needed to grow into healthy, thriving adults,” Center Director April Bordeau told The Connect.
The Brownsburg Sertoma Club has been serving the Brownsburg, Indiana, area since 1983. To learn more about the club, visit brownsburgsertoma.org.
