Get Inspired by Keynote Speaker James Vilade
Sertoma is excited to announce Major League Baseball scout and college coach James Vilade as the keynote speaker for the 2024 International Conference.
He is the founder of the Keeper of the Game Foundation, a nonprofit organization to dedicated to providing children and young adults with special needs and disabilities with unique baseball experiences that foster the growth of those individuals. Founded in 2014, Keeper of the Game promotes programs that allow these athletes to play, watch and experience baseball at a very personal level.
Vilade was inspired to start the foundation after meeting one of this wife’s kindergarten students, Hollis, who dreamed of playing professional baseball. The name comes from his late friend John Robert “Red” Murff, who taught Vilade and many others how to be a “Keeper of the Game.”
Outside his work with Keeper of the Game, the former college baseball player is also involved with other causes including Special Olympics, the Miracle League, the Frisco RoughRider Foundation, Diamond Dreams and the Children’s Advocacy Center. Vilade has spent two decades sharing his powerful message at over 200 events for organizations like the Boys and Girls Club, the University of Texas, the Texas GED program and more.
