Yellow Rose Sertoma Club Helps Hundreds Gear Up for a New School Year

More than 650 students in Burkburnett are headed back to class with the supplies they needed, thanks to Project Back to School Burkburnett, an initiative organized by the Yellow Rose Sertoma Club.

Now in its 13th year, the program continues to provide critical support to its Texas community. With help from generous donors, the Yellow Rose Sertoma Club distributed 536 school supply kits to K–12 students and handed out an estimated 660 backpacks, including to children in Head Start and Pre-K programs. Any remaining supplies and backpacks were donated to the school district for students in need throughout the year.

PBTS is one of our many worthwhile projects that support our youth, our community, our schools and our teachers,” said Club Treasurer Dee Dee Harris.

The Yellow Rose Sertoma Club was joined by dozens of volunteers from across the community, including members of the high school cheer squad and student council. Fourteen vendor partners also participated, offering school supplies and sharing information about local services. The Wichita County Health Department administered vaccinations, while the Wichita County Area Food Bank distributed 440 pounds of fresh watermelon to families.

By early September, the Yellow Rose Sertoma Club had already begun planning for the 2026–2027 school year. To help ensure the continued success of Project Back to School Burkburnett, the club took part in the regional fundraising initiative Texoma Gives to build future support.
