It’s important for every Sertoma club to come together periodically to revisit its mission, review programs, evaluate events, align on projects, and assess operational priorities.
Recognizing this need, the Liberty Sertoma Club spent much of September doing just that—exploring practical opportunities for growth while reevaluating how they currently serve and conduct club business. The result was a renewed sense of fellowship and enthusiasm for Service to Mankind. Members exchanged ideas, strengthened their shared vision, and walked away with clear goals that reaffirm their commitment to Sertoma’s mission and their impact in the Missouri community they serve.
The club’s outcomes focused on new goals centered around member engagement, leadership development, and service with purpose. These priorities will help guide the club’s efforts, ensuring that every activity not only strengthens the organization but also deepens its impact in the community.
Engaging members with:
- Improved meeting experiences via new formats, new venues, high-energy speakers, etc.)
- Quarterly socials to promote friendship and fellowship
- Timely, simplified communications with a group chat and shared information hub
Developing future and current leaders through:
- Planning mentorship opportunities
- Adopting an “Ask, Invite, Greet” approach to membership
- Strengthening onboarding
Emphasizing service with purpose by:
- Revitalizing hands-on projects with things like community drives and hearing health mission work
- Piloting one new fundraising event
The club continued its work throughout the rest of the fall, with focus groups meeting to finalize the club’s 2026 goals and timelines. A follow-up review is also planned to track early successes and identify opportunities for collaboration.
We want to applaud the Liberty Sertoma Club’s foresight—not only in undertaking this important work but also in including all members throughout the process. When all voices are heard, not just current and past leadership, members feel more invested in the club’s direction. These conversations spark new ideas, strengthen teamwork and ensure the club’s activities truly reflect the needs of the community. Most importantly, regular all-member engagement creates a shared sense of ownership that fuels momentum and ultimately drives long-term growth for the club.
